You always hear about successful entrepreneur’s having these amazing morning routines. They even credit their success to their routine. So naturally, I want a routine that fits me (since I would like to set myself up to be successful, who wouldn’t?!).
I want a morning routine that actually works for me.It’s about maximizing every opportunity. Creating my mornings are a step in the right direction. It’s all about those baby steps! It’s what I call, building a strong foundation.
I want to be able to stick to my routine but I also want to be able to alter it if I need too. I’m not going to wake up at 5 am when I’m vacationing in the Bahamas, I’ll just have a different routine. I’m going to alter it with whatever is going on in my life. So it needs to be realistic and feel right to me.
First thing I did was make a list of what I love to do in the mornings and any other notes I thought of:
- Calming yet productive, me-time, writing in my journal, a time where I can work and focus on my goals.
- nutritious breakfast
- walking, stretching, exercise.
So now I know what I want my mornings to look like. To get all of these done I’m going to have to get up early and stay awake.
Meet my alarm clock! Karen Louise, a torti with sass. She’s our baby.
For me, I need to break everything into baby steps or I won’t stick to it. The 3 things I’m working on in the morning for the next couple of weeks:
- getting up early up 5 am. The reason being is due to early morning classes and I want to have that extra time.
- drinking water first thing
- eating a nutritious breakfast
I am about two weeks into my new routines and it’s going pretty well. I think the hardest part of it was remembering to drink water first thing in the a.m. The key to this problem is as simple as keeping water near the bed. Drinking water first thing in the morning re- hydrates you after 6-8 hours of not drinking anything.
Getting up early is still hard, but once I’m up walking, it doesn’t take me long to wake up. Karen the cat, tends to want her breakfast pretty early. She normally wakes me up around 5am.
Eating a nourishing breakfast really helps! Especially since I’m in long morning classes. My favorite meal right now is toasted whole grain bread with peanut butter, sliced banana, and chia seeds. Yummy!!!!
These are simple things anyone can do to get your mornings on the right foot. How do you spend your mornings?
Next on my list- movement in the morning and habits.
Till next time!
