Hello all and happy spring!
Even though the first day of spring was just a few weeks ago, here in Ohio it has just shifted to summer. I’ve already got my first sunburn of the season and I was literally just riding in the car. Believe me, I learned my lesson.
I am so happy that the springtime weather is here. I have so much that I want to do this season. One of the things that I’m learning a lot about is to live more simply but adding in simple luxuries to your daily life. Simple as this concept is, it’s almost a huge awakening for myself. It’s about choosing Quality over Quantity. Enjoying the pleasures such as having an afternoon cup of tea with high quality dark chocolate square. It’s about investing in myself for a better life. I honestly can’t really describe how huge this has been for me. And I can’t really tell you why I have never really thought about it before. Because I don’t have an answer. I’ve always heard the saying, but I’ve never stopped and thought about it. I’m applying this to my life, but really emphasizing my home at the moment.
I have always dreamt about creating my home growing up. I always wanted to fill my home with things that would make it comfortable. And essentially, that equals stuff! I grew up with my family decorating every square inch of the house (not literally, but you get the idea). So growing up this way, I just planned on doing the same thing just in my style. Cut to now: I don’t have a ton of stuff because of how many times we’ve moved, but it’s still more than what I need. I’ve been examining each and every item that we have and asking myself if we really need it or do we even like it. Less clutter the better. This realization has really made me re-examine my life and the things and people in it. I can’t wait to take you along in this journey.
On to school! Are you signed up for summer classes? I am still excited about the summer even though I am taking summer classes. I’m going to keep trekking along even though I really would LOVE a break. But the good news is that my break is going to happen in November once we are in Thailand! I have two classes that I’m taking; Chemistry and an American history. I’ve taken a few chem. classes before, but I really need to boost my GPA. Chemistry is extremely important in my chosen field so I really have to understand it.
As for this season: My plans are pretty simple.I already have a pile of books (including cookbooks) that I want to read this summer. One thing that I’ve started to do is make a list of monthly goals that I want to achieve. Simple and achievable steps are my requirements. I’m also going to be doing a lot of volunteering. I have three different organizations that I will be spending time with. I have to have a lot of volunteer experience for my major. But I’m going to be positive about it. I’m hoping to make connections and friends with this experience.
What are your plans this summer?
